Good news:
90% of 1000 meter objects in NEO found. Yeah, that's more than 1/2 mile sized objects.
Bad News:
They've found just 10% of the 100 m NEOs and less than 1% of the 40 m ones."

And no matter what, there's very little we can do about them ... or even our own orbiting space junkyard above.
There are a bunch of plans to clean up the space junk. Lasers, grabber satellites. Hopefully it's just a matter of time.
