I really like this. A sequel instead of a reboot. It's a shame they never did anything after "The Animatrix" Like they originally planned.

In my head canon, it goes The Second Renaissance, then The Matrix, and that's the end of the series. Would have been nice if they made another Matrix movie, BUT THEY DIDN'T, so it's good to see someone taking another crack at it.

If I were going to recast Keanu Reeves, I would cast Keanu Reeves.

Let's hope he's serious.

Still am upset at the line of thinking that amounted to "no one could or should reboot The Thing [1982], so we will make a prequel, but totally just reboot it into The Thing [2012]".

Though it is kind of nice to see someone talking more about the Animatrix as opposed to the Matrix sequels that literally needed fan edits to remove the garbage. But at a certain point it comes back to the simple fact that the Matrix is a flawed universe because of the using humans as batteries line of thinking, as opposed to using their brains/bodies for wetware. The Matrix is specifically defined as set in the late 90s because that is what the designers chose, so any future stories that use our technology will end up going the Terminator Genisys route, and suffer for it. Then again, I just want to see something relatively new on screen. Get a new franchise using copious borrowing of media like Psycho-Pass much like The Matrix used GitS for inspiration.

DeZionized was the the one that got my attention to fanedits. I think I watched maybe Decoded or the Epic Edition at some point. I'll admit, I had to refresh my knowledge on the different cuts. Don't have a favourite, because my main source for fanedits was shuttered, and resurrected as a honeypot, so haven't seen one in ages.

They were supposed to be humans used as processors, but the directors thought that would be too high-brow for the audience. Everything makes just so much more sense with that one small change.

But the The Thing reboot was actually an interesting case because in the original the Norwegians had to deal with the alien mimic before the Americans did and almost nothing was said about what happened to them (because they were supposedly all dead and no-one knew what happened). Actually making it about the mysterious Norwegian situation is a really good way to keep the feel and canon of the original while telling a new story.

I get it. I was sold on the premise. I was excited for it. But then they delivered what amounted to a remake, with shitty CGI replacing the groundbreaking FX of the Carpenter version. To actually delve into it would require a scene by scene breakdown, and how the two films line up, much the same way Star Wars Force Awakens was New Hope. And that would require me to rewatch the new one, something that is not happening any time soon. It wouldn't have been an issue if they actually told a new story.

Worst decision in the history of Hollywood if they go ahead with the reboot.

So then it is a guarantee. Gee, I hope they don't inject leftist ideology into it like they did with everything else thus far.

Definitely do not reboot the matrix. I'm just now getting the hang of things.

I don't get it - they've rebooted it at least five times already, why not more?
