It's a contributing cause at best. The other particles with adequate combustion also place particulate debris in alveoli sacs. This is a well understood disease mechanism.
For you smokers, here's some rough guidelines:
Baseline, non Smoker: 0% additional cancer risk
Tobacco smoker: at least 100% additional cancer risk
Tobacco and weed + 200%-300%+ rate of cancers
weed only: -50% rate from baseline. Meaning a non smokers chance to get cancers are nearly twice that of weed smokers.
Why? -Weed cures cancer. It's not rocket science. And the Jamaican studies from the 70's supports that simplified ratio chart.

Yeah I find it very interesting.
Why does tobacco smoke persist for days or weeks in furniture and rooms.
Yet I can hotbox a room for hours and hours, and the smell will be entirely gone in ~48 hrs.
If all smoke is particulate, shouldn't the weed smoke persist just as long?

I'm going on ten years. I need to consider picking up vaping.

I put down a ten year smoking habit and picked up a vape, took one day to quit.

Well, that's encouraging, thank you. I've been kind of waiting for them to become cheaper and feel more like cigarettes; but one of these days.

Nothing is guaranteed - it does however put you at greater risk.
