There's already cracks in the standard model. The mass of the higgs boson is nowhere near what we expect it to be, and there's plenty other discrepancies.
However, apart from the misleading title that wrongly implies that this is "the first crack that's been noticed", this is pretty interesting. TY OP.

Well, titles are always a bit hyperbolic, but it is one of the first reliable results that actually point us in a direction to search on how to patch those cracks. I can't wait for the standard model to be overthrown, but I'm afraid we'll be stuck with it for a while longer.

Indeed. String theory tho. That's a hell of a cool way to solve some of the problems of the S Model, such as fine-tuning, etc.
