it’s probably because you are using an “el cheapo” lens

you start pixel-peeping to rationalize your expensive purchase.

Which leads to countless YouTube reviews on lenses. And countless hours of watch time. And makes advertisers and YouTubers happy.

However, the importance of solving this problem goes well beyond giving you a sharper picture of your feet for your nine Instagram followers.

remember that once somebody stamps the “made for photographers” sticker on a product, it is priced many times higher because of the “added value” to your artistry.

This seems so interesting but I'm more of a bioscientist and it's going over my head - would one of you please explain it to me in simpler terms? Also it seems pretty interesting; I'm just not great at physics due to being put off it at a young age, so while I have learned mathematics I have to think about it a bit unless someone breadcrumbs me through it.

I'm really interested though, and my mom is really into photography so if it's a good article she might like it if I sent it to her.

It looks like he's added a few ripples to it. I'd imagine that these just push the problem to a finer level, rather than fundamentally solve it. It's probably a situation where each doubling of the number of ripples reduces the distortion by an order of magnitude.
