This is not news to me. It isn't as hard as you think it is mate. It's simply just changing it to a screw we can manufactured here in the U.S. They shouldn't be allowed to use a propriety screw period. That shit needs to be outlawed. The Warranty Stickers aren't legit any longer. Time for the screws to be universal. This is more about finding a reason to not make them in the U.S.
If you think this is anything else than them playing politics then I have a bridge to sell ya.
Let them make the phone in China, also let us tarrif this decision of no using an American machine screw at $2000 each sale. Same with cars i say. Apple makes a fuck ton already on these crap spy phones that Android can do everything they do anyways.
Those are two great channels. One breaks down most electronics that come out today, mainly phones. The second channel is a guy who works exclusively on apple products. So let him, The fucking expert, tell you about their screws and their history at Apple. Apple changed their screws to prevent repairs and their obsolete their own products so you are forced to replace them.
Lastly, here is a good channel that breaks down all kinds of electronics and then even goes of the electrical diagrams of the devices he looks into:

I am not here saying we need more government. Good god, if you took that away from what I wrote, then that isn't the intent at all. My entire point was the move made by Apple wasn't to do anything other than to prevent us from repairing our own devices. All screws should use a head that is universal so that the device can be accessed by the owner of the device. At the very least apple should provide the screwdriver then, so that we can repair our own devices. They won't, they don't want you to do that.

Universal screws, you say? Governments worldwide are your answer.
