They need a spinning space station, like all those initially imagined.

that would be expensive though and the (((dual citizens))) in congress would rather have those shekels go to more endless wars for the expansion of Israel.

I love how they don't include Israeli dual nationals on the wiki page about dual nationality politicians.

It's not that it's expensive, it's that the point of the space station is to be in microgravity. If they were curious how people did under 1g of spin gravity they wouldn't bother going to space. They'd just do experiments here.

Look, it's not that hard.

If you want this spinning space station thingy, all nations on earth just need to hand all of their wealth and sovereignty to Israel. That way Israeli can actually focus on this space conquering thingy, instead of greater Israeli plan on earth.

Ringworld, by Larry Niven. Love those old hard sci-fi novels. If anyone is interested in another novel in the genre by a different author, I recommend Camelot 30k , by Robert L Forward.

Thank you, I will see to getting this one. Is it part of a series?

I would imagine that it would be difficult to keep balanced and in a steady orbit.

Or just a giant hamster wheel for exercise.

I have often wondered how all the useful and benign microbes in and on the human body would react to long periods in space. I wonder if the rash is related to different microbes predominately on his skin now compared to before.

While the microbes on Earth went through thousands or hundreds of thousands of generations... he was in space. When he came back, it was a whole new world biologically. I'm surprised there aren't more side effects based on this alone.

Edit: If this gets woven into some space denier's tapestry of ignorance, I'm gonna be sad.

I really want to see pictures.

I wonder how this will effect SpaceX's plans for mars?

They will just build the Spindle and send it on its way.

You would think they would have some compression socks lying about to help deal with just such an issue.

We won't be able to successfully explore with humans. We will continue to sent robots controlled by advanced AI. With advances in quantum entanglement based communications and faster than light travel, we will be able to use these robots as avatars and explore the universe.

True story bro.

quantum entanglement doesnt work like that. Even the laws of quantum mechanics are written to prevent actual communication faster than light, even if they do allow some spooky actions at a distance

Who wrote these laws? I say we change them!

We have to develop a way to turn our brains to digital. Then everything will change, and immortality will only be a wall socket away.

You should test your theory with your dinner fork. Let me know if you become immortal.

Quantum entanglement based FTL communication will not work (most likely) as that breaks causality

Science fiction pipe dream, just like the transporter.

No pictures? This reads off more like a fiction novel and less like an actual event. Maybe i'm just paranoid but i'd like to see these "alien stumps". Regardless if it is true, great read.

I wonder if future long-term astronauts should be wearing compression socks/leggings for weeks after their return.

I don't think there's much else they can do(though the length of time might not be as long as you state). The rash, however, is extremely disconcerting; if he developed new allergies to common materials, that's a major problem.

I'd say it's not really an allergy, just the skin having adapted to never feeling pressure on it.
