Now to get the nano gold out of the ocean. Each liter of seawater contains, on average, about 13 billionths of a gram of gold. 20 million tonnes or so.
Compare to the gold on land:
The best estimate at the end of 2011 is that around 165,000 metric tons (or tonnes) have been mined in all of human history.
