Talk about anticlimactic. I was kind of hoping the missing matter was based on bad theories and we needed new ideas relating to time and relativity. But our quest for understanding took a step forward, an import moment in science for sure.

I'm pretty sure it will be dismissed shortly after. It's like the guy who proved P=NP and was dismissed in less than a week.

Halton Arp and Birkeland theorized all of this almost a hundred years ago and were shunned out of science for it. Many others since have carried on with these theories and everyone called them crazy or fringe or whatever else they could to discredit them and shut them up. But join the gravity centric club and call it some magical place holder like dark matter and everything's accepted. Those "filaments of hot gas" are called Birkeland currents and are made of plasma. When you stop assuming that gravity is the primary force in the universe and that every celestial body is an island things become a lot simpler. /v/plasmacosmology

And the birkeland currents are expected to become quite active during the grand solar minimum just coming up on us.

It will be vindication for him.

They found dark gas? Article states, "[we haz no equipment that can detect this silent gas]." I think they wants more shekkels.

That is exactly it. Two separate teams "that totally do not help eachother out" doesnt help much.

If you read the article, you would know that's not what they're saying. What they've found is missing ordinary matter. The dark matter problem remains.

Maybe, but I did not read the article so I will take your word on that.

Unless someone can explain to me how salt flats are flatter than the curvature of the earth, yes.
