This headline makes it sound like they are terraforming a part of the moon to have humans be able to stay there. While the grant seems to be more about setting up an interstellar gas station of sorts, and having MSL-class rovers (Curiosity size) doing surface experiments. Any way stage two funding isn't exactly huge, it is $500,000.

NASA is always up to cool shit.

I agree: Cool story, but the title is a bit click-baity.

TL;DR as I read it:

  1. Set up solar reflectors to redirect light into dark, scientifically promising craters

  2. Solar-powered rovers can explore said craters and conduct surface experiments

  3. ???

  4. Terraform
