Psilocybin also has the potential to cause just as much psychological damage as antidepressants if the person doesn't know how to cope with their internal demons being presented to them front and center.

In all for this but people need to be careful about making psychedelics seem like a miracle cure like they do with weed. They are a very powerful tool but they are just that, tools. And like any tool they are only as useful as the people wielding them can make them.

Well said. I also warn people that they should only do it with an open mind, and don't be afraid or paranoid.

Magic Mushrooms Can Erase Fear in Mice http://www.livescience.com/37914-psilocybin-eliminates-traumatic-memories.html

Psilocybin inhibits the processing of negative emotions in the brain https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2014/05/140507095756.htm

"Psilocybin is thought to act as an agonist at serotonin receptors, meaning it increases serotonin transmission. Thus, it may be that antidepressants like SSRIs that act on serotonin--at least as part of their mechanism--have something in common with psilocybin. And, it suggests that perhaps psilocybin should continue to be investigated for its antidepressant and anxiolytic (anti-anxiety) properties."

yes, all the studies performed that show benefits are on low doses and with professional guidance, not some high school students taking way too much and then trying to hide it from authorities/ the general public.
Many people do not realize that their mental state affects their physical state, this is especially true on drugs like psilocybin.
State of mind is key, a panic attack on hallucinogenics is a terrifying experience.

Show me some scientific proof, because right now you're just another methhead screaming about how they know better than me. I claim that psilocybin IS a miracle drug, and I'm providing precisely as much evidence to support my claim as you are.

It's true, there just isn't proof for it.

What happens goes something like this :

You take LSD or Mushrooms, your brain enters a state of near "reprogramming mode". Things you experience while under the influence get concreted as new. If you have TERRIBLE experiences, yes, trips can cause depression until the problem is fixed. This is a overwhelming story on shroomery.com if you look at the trip reports.

This is why it is so valuable also. If you had a bad experience, you can replace it with a new one, sometimes all that takes is thinking about it properly.

From being a heavy HEAVY user of both mushrooms and LSD in my past, I promise you that you can tinker too much.

The example of the TV antenna works perfect. Move it until the station you want comes to full view, if you try to get a better than better view, you have a chance of changing it back to static.

A government should not regulate what a free individual puts into their body for whatever reason. A government should also not supply free individuals with assistance should they make bad choices.

If you want to get the government out of your freedom you also need to get them out of your wallet.

A government should not commit itself to eradicating parts of nature and the human mind that it does not, and likely can not, understand. Committing it's people to indefinite wars on plants and infinite wars in the mind; what kind of harbinger of waste and ruin would rationalize any way for its government to continue being belligerent against medicine and people?

You cannot come upon the scene of an accident and easily make proper judgments in regards to a person's choices. Hippocratic Oath, Patricia Hearst, Schizophrenia, etc...

Taken them a few times. Only had really good ones once. The first time was the most fun though. I'd like to try some by myself for once.

Then if caught I can be charged with manufacturing. If that happens I lose my MMJ card. For good too. Those charges bar you from holding one where I live.

These substances and their different kins have been used by shamans for a long time. They provide a unique experience that can be unpredictable and unsettling at moments. For usual users, it depends on many factors, such as the quality and quantity consumed, where the substance is consumed and what you are doing. The higher the dose, the more the division between immediate sensory reality is changed, and you are swept through with it. Once ingested, there is nothing you can do stop the effects from unfolding if you change your mind. Even for experienced users, some "challenges" may be encountered, where a particularly nasty dread or fear persists, but eventually fades completely and the experience continues. The worst prospect is "losing it" as in literally panicking, though most people are too busy laughing their heads off and admiring the beauty of something they never noticed before to even think of being afraid. It is generally a hilarious, uplifting, profound and personal and visionary experience, with the possibility of some occasional, but surmountable rough edges. But some people can not handle a med to high dose. People with a history of psychiatric symptoms such as hallucinations, mania, or paranoia should avoid unless directed by a health care professional. In small doses, it was reported in an article, that it is possible for people to attend work. People feel perceptive, open, alert and insightful. In higher doses, that may not be possible, as the effects change the way we relate to our environment too much, and the usual situations and people around us take on another significance. You just don't go to work...It is undeniable that these substances are powerful, can be life changing for some, have been at the source of profound inspirations and new outlooks on life of countless people. People should also be extremely cautious of more exotic substances such as found and consumed or offered in the tropics, or even available in the Northern hemisphere, some botanics can harm you and you won't be enjoying your psychedelics if you're convulsing or throwing up to death! There can be some nasty and sometimes fatal side effects. Speaking of which, I find that LSD consumed either in small doses increased bit by bit or half a dose at a time carries the user through the transition in a smoother manner than mushrooms do. Eating a gram and more of mushrooms can be uncomfortable, sudden and freaky. I think the use of these substances, "as we know them for the moment", are limited in psychiatry. I wish there was a better alternative to what patients are routinely prescribed for their troubles. I wish it would get seriously looked into, a revision and clean up of many pharmaceuticals. A family doctor is ready to prescribe low doses of anti psychotic drugs for trifle things such as foot pain or anxiety. Ask about the possibility of a bit of medical marijuana for its therapeutic benefits and you may be told in all seriousness that marijuana is very dangerous!

I tried 3 grams with the syrian rue MAOI, and man oh man. I can't really describe what I experienced, but it was eye-opening. 5 grams, and you've gotta have balls of steel for that. As long as the shrooms are good quality, you'll experience amazing things.
