Don't look behind the curtain. Just shut up and pay your carbon taxes.

As someone who thinks that the climate is changing and that humans are at least partially responsible for it Carbon taxes are fucking stupid and don't address any problems.

Carbon taxes on corporations just result in the costs being handed down to the consumer with no changes in emissions.

That's a pretty mild statement that almost everyone agrees with though. The contentious idea is that said change represents a threat to us and we are responsible for enough of it to reverse it and control the climate if we choose to do so.

The issue of climate change was broken down to me very succinctly in four scenarios. Regardless of what I or others may think of it, the logic is unassailable:

1) Climate change is a hoax. If we do nothing, we lose nothing. Life continues as it is.

2) Climate change is a hoax. If we enact legislation to combat it, we piss away money, but are otherwise fine.

3) Climate change is not a hoax. If we do nothing, we're deeply and truly screwed and billions could die.

4) Climate change is not a hoax. If we enact legislation to combat it, we may be able to do something.

The logical risk-reward decision to make is to spend the money. In any case, lots of crappier and more expensive ventures have come and gone over the years. Even if it turned out to be less bad than originally thought, whole new energy industries would benefit.

Ok, so spend your money on it. Don't demand other people spend their money on your ideas.

Is there a counter-argument in there somewhere? Or are you really that willfully short-sighted?

5) Climate change is a hoax. We enact legislation to combat it and ruin the environment even further through misinformation.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

The logic is easily assailable. Your breakdown makes no allowance for the possibility that climate change is inconsequential or a net positive for humans. It also glosses over the main problem with warmist policies: Pissing away money does not leave us "otherwise fine." It significantly hampers our quality of life at best and actually endangers it at worst.

I wouldn't be surprised, lol. Too many people's careers are riding on this to let temperatures drop now.

Good article, very clear presentation. I would be astounded if I saw an author try and counter it without slipping into angry ad hominem attacks. It is worth reading even if you agree with the headline.

I remember back in 2014 or 2013. It was a colder than average year. So to keep up the narrative they changed how they took their measurements and the problem went away. They do the same thing with unemployment and inflation, both of those are very under-reported.

"We live with what nature throws at us" ended when we began pumping and burning millions of barrels each day.
