Me too. I think if we can convince auto makers to make all electric cars and for home builders to include solar panels on all homes we could start on the right path at least.

What will convince auto makers and home builders to do both of those things is renewable energy technology becoming more economic than fossil fuels. Thankfully, we are very close to that point.

A better alternative is just to make walkable cities. Cars perpetuate the problem. They're the whole reason our cities are so spread out. They were built assuming everyone would drive. How much smaller would cities have to be if everyone had to pedal everywjere? Considering how fat the Americans are, probably dramatically so.
Drive less and walk more. Short journeys in cars are the most polluting and mechanically damaging so should be avoided. The sad thing is so many places are set up so it isn't possible to walk. I was staying in a motel in California one time and I wanted to visit a store over the road but thet nearest crossing was half a mile away so I had to walk two miles total in order to visit a store I could see from the motel. No wonder most people just drive.

If we stop driving cars we can put a dent in that right away.
