I mean, Muhammad literally took people to war and conquered Mecca as well as other territory, so I wouldn't compare him to Jesus in this instance.

I'm afraid that's not accurate. The Meccans chased Muhammad (sa) out from his home due only to his faith in much the same way the Romans had persecuted the early Christians.

Then when he migrated following their assassination attempts (he had practiced his faith entirely peacefully and tolerantly) they sent the following message to his new homeland in Medina:

You gave protection to our companion. We swear by Allah, you should fight him or expel him, or we shall come to you in full force, until we kill your fighters and appropriate your women.

So it was the non-Muslim Meccans who declared war on the entirely peaceful Muslims. The Muslims won the war, but as I say war was only ever permitted in self defence. And the Muslims had no choice whatsoever - they had migrated to live their lives peacefully and the Meccans had responded by chasing them with the intention of wiping them out.

Jesus taught to turn the other cheek when you are wronged. He taught to love each other as we love ourselves. He taught us to be patient and kind. Christianity and Islam are polar opposites in their content.

Christ also taught that "he who lives by the sword, shall die by the sword."

As Christians, we have been very reluctant to put away our swords. Is it not surprising that we should then die by the sword?

OK. Apart from the fact Jesus did say he came to bring a sword, how would a Christian respond to the following situation:

A country (lets call it ISIS - who I condemn and believe are totally unIslamic, despite their name) decide they are so intolerant they want to wipe out all Christians, rape their women and commit total genocide.

How as a good Christian will you respond? Will you turn the other cheek and let them get on with it, hand over your wives, daughters, mothers and your throats? Or will you allow self defence?

Islam permits self-defence. Any moral philosophy has to otherwise all the good people would immediately be wiped out by the genocidal maniacs (Hitler, ISIS etc) and no good person could ever survive.
