Thats what happens when you dont actually read the bible.

No where, at all, is anything about honoring the removed flesh of human mentioned.

Quite the opposite in fact. Scripture would call that idolatry. Something God despises.

Found the Protestant.

[–] 70times7 0 points 4 points (+4|-0) ago

If you read scripture, you would protest Rome as well.

Why would they even think someone would even think to save the foreskin at the time? 'Snip snip, aaaaand done. Hmmm. Better save this. Might be worth a few shekels someday, or maybe just a snack for later.'

[–] ThottyScientist ago

Also a baby's foreskin is going to be really small. I mean there's not much to save, right? I think some people are just weird. I knew someone who saved part of their kid's umbilical cord, which makes me want to gervomit.

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God.

Jewgod doesn't like idolatry because it wants human child sacrifices burnt offerings instead

Moloch is not God.

It's bizarre which parts of the old covenant people decide to hold on to - "Shellfish are cool now, but He definitely meant that baby dick cutting thing to be forever."

[–] Scald85 0 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago

Protestants gonna protestant.

[–] 70times7 ago

"Apostate" protestants gonna apostatize.

Can protest the mother church without being in apostasy. Millions do.

*but of course hundreds of millions do not.

Jesus specifically said that gentiles shouldn’t be outcasts; they’re meant to be equal. That’s one of the reasons the Pharisees hated him, they wanted to remain above everyone else.

Jesus was a nigger lover its over

My theory on this is simple - a lot of the weirder rules in the earlier parts of the bible make sense in a desert society. Bear in mind that much of it was supposedly written while they were either enslaved in Egypt or wandering the desert.

Deserts are hot and short on water. Washing your penis would have been harder. Having a dirty dick makes it a) more likely that you'll catch something nasty, and b) makes it more likely that you'll pass on things like the virus that causes uterine cancer. For a population living through a time of hardship, when having kids would have been tough enough as it was, genital health is extremely important. So, remove the foreskin, you can get rid of a lot of the extra gunk that you can't easily wash away if you don't have easy access to clean water due to being a) in a desert and b) either a refugee or a slave.

Same with seafood - of course it's not kosher - what idiot eats seafood in the middle of a desert?

I'm an atheist myself, but I've always thought the bible and other texts are more a collection of historical documents, many of which are guidelines for staying alive that have been abbreviated down to basic rules over time.

Totally just a theory though.

[–] irradiated_toaster 0 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago

They never cut off the whole foreskin, just enough so the tip of thd penis would show, why they did this, who knows, cutting off the entire foreskin wasn't common practice until the 1900s when the kellog man thought it would keep kids from jacking off.

[–] PsychoticBreak 0 points 1 point (+1|-0) ago

Scripture shows that foreskin removal is a power move. He whose foreskin is removed is marked a slave.

[–] generate 0 points 1 point (+1|-0) ago

it is to make children materialistic. When you cut his penis his attention is anchored for many months to his sexual chakra, so instead of a loving and generous being he becomes a person who calculates every move.

I dunno why but when you ask a Venezuelan anything he starts scratching his balls, if you ask a Russian he starts scratching his head, tested myself many times

The comments in this thread are a prime example of why people, religious or not, and from both sides of the aisle, should learn about Hebrew mythology. Yes that includes the Christians, because the Bible only tells certain parts of the mythology deemed relevant to Christianity.

The new testament is mostly the teachings of Christ and his followers, the Christian part, while the old testament is essentially a storybook of Hebrew mythology. However the old testament only tells the stories it deems relevant to Christianity, there are many more that go untold in the Bible (And not solely the book of Enoch).

For those who are of a non-Abrahamic religion, agnostic, or atheist, it's still very useful to get an understanding of the mythology, because your enemy is religiously dedicated to it. Whether people like it or not, the world is engulfed in an Abrahamic feud, mostly due to European imperialism, Islamic conquest, and communist revolution, which is why I can understand the disdain some here hold for it. My best advice is to better understand it, because holding the "desert religion bad" view is not helpful in the overall scheme of things.

Start with the trees of life and death, and the legend of the fall of man, and the interpretation the Hebrews had of it, this is the point the feud started there and a lot of ideologies involved in this trace back to it, whether directly (an Abrahamic religion) or indirectly (communism for example, because it's based off Judaism).

Understanding psychosis has literally done nothing to alleviate it's effects, ever.

[–] Zoldam 1 point 0 points (+1|-1) ago

Way to miss the point... Allow me to simplify.

it's still very useful to get an understanding of the mythology, because your enemy is religiously dedicated to it.

Would you go against communism without reading the communist manifesto or Das Kapital? Would you stand against Nazism without first reading Mein Kampf? Will you stand against great scientists before reading their works? I could on, but I think I made the point clear enough now. Ignorance will be used against you in life, don't let it be.
