Matthew 7:21. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Looks like Jesus agrees! New testament and everything. Matthew 5 : 17 to 20. Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 19. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20. For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

The puritans whom built America and gave rise to the industrial revolution are the best example of this. But clearly present day Christians ignore the Old Testament all together and only care about feeling a connection to Jesus.

That depends on whether you believe anything the bible says. Some of it sounds like Him, most doesn't. Sounds JUST like population control to mine ears. Folks who worship and follow the bible, instead of remembering "The kingdom of Heaven is WITHIN" are violating their own commandment: Thou Shalt Have No God Before Me.

My experience says that there is not one lie in the bible, only those too afraid to do what God asks. Loving your neighbor, being accountable for your sins worthy of death, accepting the free gift. I didn't learn most of this in church, I read it, and keep reading it. Church leaders strain out the part where you can have a relationship with God, because he always has his hand out. All I see today is people that have been stabbed in the back that no longer trust anything, and that's why its going to hit the fan soon. But there is always hope for those who try.

Since at least emperor Constantine, the Bible has been eviscerated, and could not truly be called the same Bible as it was. Truth comes from so very MANY sources, and the Bible is no exception. But what, ALL, has been withheld from us? Why? I'm glad you get so much from it, and long may that continue. It hasn't garnered its following for nothin'! :-)

How does His word not sound like Him to you?

Aaaaand WHO says it's "His" word? Who actually WROTE those words? The bible is a SECONDARY source, brother. Believe it if you will.
