We in the West can afford to grow our produce without pesticides. It would cost more to do it, but we can grow more than we need and we can grow it in a way that we can afford, although it would be a bit more expensive.
In the rest of the world, they can't do this. Without pesticides and herbicides from Western companies, millions would starve -- which, I believe, is probably what needs to happen, since these nations need to learn how to grow food for their own populations, and those populations are artificially inflated and propped up by Western aid, and need to be reduced.
