If possible, turn the temperature down to a softer boil. It will take a bit longer to cook but you can enjoy your show without having to worry about the pasta!

If you like, you can also add water-soluble spices to the pasta at this stage, infusing the pasta with such things as onion or garlic powder.

Also, once you're done straining the pasta, add your sauce directly to the pasta. This will warm the sauce, if it wasn't already heated, and add more flavor to the pasta.

Yea, I figured that out the hard way. Apparently a wooden spoon over the pot does the trick as well. Breaks the bubbles before they can overflow or something like that.

Be careful with that. It only works as long as the wood is cooler than the bubbles. Also, prolonged exposure to water can lead to wooden utensils warping after awhile. It's best to just let it cook slower.
