Sigh...I'm really getting bored with the "run X software on Y hardware" parlor tricks. What is the point of running a 20 year old OS on a platform that makes it unusable? There's a lot of power in the RPi yet all we ever see is lame ports of OSes, game emulators and media centers. The RPi community doesn't seem to have any real creativity anymore much less the hardware chops to use it for something other than a small PC. I really wish I had the time to invest in making cool things that are not simply refried versions of what we've already seen before.

I think that's valid criticism, but at the same time you can't fault people for taking on personal projects that interest them.

Right now I'm most interested in Mycroft AI; it could go a long way towards running an Alexa-like digital assistant on your own home network.
