Interesting piece. I suppose he may be correct that scientifically it is impossible to actually have theory of,the mind that would allow one person to truly know another’s thoughts. But as a practical matter some people are better at deciphering others for practical purposes, such as good poker players versus bad ones. And AI modelling can crunch enough data to give fairly reliable projections. The more difficult question is what we do with information for which a better than 50/50 accuracy pertains. Even if we could figure out with 92% accuracy who will attempt suicide, taking action against the ones who don’t is a greivous invasion of rights.
