Honestly this warming up between canonical and microsoft kind of worries me for the same reasons. I hope its microsofts attempt to give itself a new face not their attempt to corrupt a decent open source OS.

Well, I don't think it would be an attempt to corrupt Ubuntu since Canonical already did that in the past with the Amazon shopping lens (but they did finally make it opt-in instead of opt-out by default). If anything, this move will be a great opportunity to get more people using free software, even though Microsoft is only doing this for their bottom line and not to benefit their users.
