So everyone here is panicking. Keep in mind I'm like 4, maybe 5 hours from the coast.
As of last night, stores were starting to run out of things like milk and bread. People stockpiling water. Gas stations starting to run out. For reference, that's Monday night. We're not supposed to see anything close to serious until Thursday. All the same, I'm keeping my car and truck topped and topped off the lawn mower and two small gas cans and the 5 gallon gas can.
I went out and picked up a few things because, hey, I'm taking in 7 people total (and 6 dogs - seriously, who owns 6 dogs???). A few toiletries in case they forget them during the evac, paper plates, an extra gallon of milk because I drink milk anyway.
Topped off the truck. Apparently the turn signal light I replaced is futzing with the blinker so they just stay on instead of blinking. Gonna have to fix that. Also learned that the fuel gauge on the truck reads a bit high. At least a quarter tank high. Did you know gas station pumps stop you at $100? I didn't. Also, new wiper motors on the truck (air pistons, really), work like a champ.
Anyway, word has it that Florence is expected to hit Cat 5 and I hear winds on the coast will hit Cat 4 tomorrow sometime.
