Because of the move and various other issues, I had to dissemble my go and get home bags. I have reassembled those. Turns out that my get home bag fits inside my go bag nicely. Which means that my go bag will have my get home bag along with a second backpack.
And with the sudden turn of weather today (my office is freaking out), my get home bag is now nicely packed with things to keep me warm. Also, I've swapped to my cold weather waterproof boots for everyday wear.
I've also ramped up my EDC to include a nice and extremely sharp pocket knife (I don't usually carry a knife because I never need one), some incredible skiing gloves with that little blowhole you can use to warm your hands (and has spots on the fingers for touchscreens). I've been using my down coat which is warm as fuck.
Added actual pocket knives to my medical kits (instead of just x-acto knives and scalpels). I ended up getting a fuckton of pocket knives when my family visited.
On the note of pocket knives, they hadn't been taken care of at all so I buffed corrosion, etc off of a couple of them, coated with linseed oil, sharpened two of them (although one of them flat out needs the grinding wheel because it was abused like shit). Cold weather is putting a damper on that.
Those windows from last week all got plastic covered and I even managed to keep the little turny-thingy that adjusts how the blinds turn out through the plastic so I can adjust for light and temps.
Moved my emergency food stores to a different container. I had vacuum sealed a lot of stuff and it looks like vacuum sealing has about a 5-10% failure rate. Somehow, all the little instant coffee packs I made all failed. One hard tack seal broke.
Took a quick look through my long term medical supplies. I had vacuum sealed just about everything. Looks like the failure rate there is about 5% as well.
Vacuum sealed some of the Christmas meal leftovers for freezer storage. Added a little more to my freezer stock but not much.
Car is back in the shop to deal with a few more issues (hey, I paid it off a few months ago, of course it's going to start breaking). No, it looks like they missed something deal with the fuel system issue so it's in there again and I'll give them shit if that is indeed what the problem is.
Started thinking about the best way to attach a gutter and collection system for the 300 gallon tank my outbuilding. Just turning it over in my head: filtration, overflow, treatment. Nothing hard planned yet but now actively thinking about it.

Yes plus I have it in an outbuilding. No one will ever know it's there.
Something I'd like to also try to get done this year is see if my well is functional. Bought the house in May, on city water but it has a well that isn't running. If it's in good shape and the water is clean, Imma have someone rig it up to the house, eliminate my city water usage.
Also, bleach loses effectiveness over time. Look into using pool shock.

Are you in an area where you can get around hardcore water treatment by keeping the water tank covered and treat with bleach?
