He did basically start it. It was a PAC attacked him and you have to have a thick enough skin to realize that PACs are going to say shit, and not lash out at the guy who is completely unrelated to the attack. It's like punching the guy next to you at the bar because you though you heard someone say something about your wife from across the bar.

That is a terrible analogy for several reasons, and if the PAC started it, then he didn't really start it now did he? And I'm not sure how you can say Cruz is unrelated to the initial attack when it's his own PAC that did it. If he really was unaware of a move which would naturally turn to blows given Trump's nature, then that would be hugely incompetent of him.

It's not his own PAC that did it. It's an attack PAC with no affiliation to Cruz that was formed before Cruz was the main opposition.

Even if it was his PAC, Cruz can't control his PAC but also, not his.

PACs are going to try everything in the book. They are basically anonymous and have nothing to loose and every reason to make the news. The easiest thing to do is ignore them. Nobody is exempt from their stupidity and you can't take it out on candidates when PACs do things (especially when they are unrelated). Cruz wouldn't even be able to imply that they should quit it even if it was his.

This isn't the first time Trump has appeared to not understand how PACs work. He asked others to return or not accept money from certain people in their PAC. Should PACs be dead, yes. Do they exist yes. Should somebody's wife be harassed on twitter from a presidential hopeful just because of something a PAC said who literally nobody can control. Anyone who says yes is pretending ignorance.
