I used to think it was a flaw in our system as well, and think some of it needs to be amended(marijuana). But the locking up druggy degenerates is not a bad thing for our country, especially when most of them usually have an entire rap-sheet of other violations that actually make them get in trouble.

What about instead of spending money locking people up, we focus on education and rehabilitation.
Portugal has been thriving after decriminalizing all drugs.

Because the people that get locked up usually go back to commiting other crimes anyways. Whether it's drugs or robberies or rapes, most of the people locked up are bad people. You can't rehabilitate these people.
