Uh.....you know that most of the recent conflicts between Muslims are related to the sunni Shia divide right?
In a way you are right Muslims are not an entirely cohesive unit. they are still fighting and slaughtering each other to decide who should have lead the faith after muhammad died. This would be like the EU and Russia fighting to end the great schism, except it actually happens. A lot.

You mean the protestant reformation right? The founding of the church of england lead to war too, but Charles of the Holy Roman empire was already set on the idea of attacking Henry of England due to Henry's treatment of Charles aunt Catherine.
you are right though. Europe had large periods of religious strife....500 years ago.
