The professor gave an assignment to post on a tumblr blog, for a journalism class.

When said post disagreed with the professors values and includes references to statistics that support the students position. The professor claims the student is being disruptive and threatening.

Sounds pretty standard for an internet feminist. It's a shame this kind of activity is allowed in an educational institution.

Edit: OP linked the post. This is what had her so upset? It basically says "women are welcome to serve in combat rolls, but we should not lower standards for them" this is getting more ridiculous by the moment.

Something like this happened to me back in high school. A far left leaning teacher of mine assigned a political analysis paper, and based off of my political leanings she tried to flunk me on said paper. Living in the Midwest I wasn't the only one who was getting flunked either. It never became national news like this one because our school administration had enough sense to reprimand the teacher and restore the grades the papers deserved. She didn't call the police on us though, so that's a new level of crazy.

I learned that the easiest thing to do is to just repeat the teacher's stupid views when writing papers for class. I was also disappointed to find that university is not really any different, I was hoping that it would be. The same goes for workplaces, just repeat whatever stupid thing that the boss wants.

The student simply confirmed concerns that feminism has gone crazy and become abusive. And, interestingly, once again placed himself in harm's way for a greater good.

Good on anyone who does not allow themselves to be bullied by these crazies. And I really hope the police report concludes with the officer writing something to the effect of recommending a mental health exam for the teacher.

The student simply confirmed concerns that feminism has gone crazy and become abusive.

It half annoys me, half impresses me the degree to which their propaganda works. Even when people grudgingly admit that a certain group of feminists are bad, they always phrase it in such a way as to imply that other groups of feminists are good. If it's recent, then we'll get "the third wave ruined original feminism," or "tumblr ruined feminism." If it was the nutjobs back in the 60s and 70s then we'll get "oh, that was just 60s feminism" or "second wave feminism was immature, it's much better now." And if you educate them about how the suffragettes had nothing to do with equality (and weren't feminists) you'll get "Well, that was a different time, feminism has evolved since then."

Feminism hasn't gone crazy and become abuse, it always has been crazy and abusive. The non-crazy and abusive ones are the radical fringe. There's no such thing as original feminism, or waves for that matter; the shit we're seeing now is all the same shit there's ever been.

The fact that she thinks Tumblr counts as "journalism" should be cause to review this idiot's teaching credentials.

One mean tweet is categorically more hurtful and costing then a million "First day on the Somme" battles.

Women have always been the primary victims of war. Women lose their husbands, their fathers, their sons in combat. Women often have to flee from the only homes they have ever known. Women are often the refugees from conflict and sometimes, more frequently in today’s warfare, victims. Women are often left with the responsibility, alone, of raising the children.

The offending blog post he was kicked out over

Archive copy in case it gets pulled

Note, making political blog posts are a requirement of the class, making this doubly heinous. You can't even keep your head down and ignore the bullshit, she's literally requiring people to publicly support her opinions to pass.

Edit: Having read it, my title was misleading. His blog post wasn't even critical of feminism. It was a studiously neutral article about women's place in the military which culminates by noting that women definitely do have a valid place in the armed forces.

Edit Edit: As someone else pointed out, that may not be the blog post in question as it doesn't contain the quote mentioned in the article. Still a useful link though as it shows that the guy clearly wasn't some rabid woman hater.

That was a super neutral and unoffensive post.

It basically boiled down to "women are welcome to serve in combat rolls, but we should not lower standards for them". That seems like a really reasonable position to take.

but we should not lower standards for them

And because the standards derive from survivability in adverse conditions, not from "performing as good as (or better than) men". However I don't agree with you here.

That was a super neutral and unoffensive post.

Everything's offensive if you choose to take offense to it. We need to stop arguing whether something is or is not offensive and start arguing to "get the fuck over it". "I find the weather offensive because it forces women to cover their bodies, which is sexist". Don't argue, just call them retarded. There is no logical argument you can make to such stupid statements because it's already self-evident. This is how modern day feminism was designed, in a very specific methodological way. A group of very clever Marxists came up with it in the 40's/50's to destroy western culture

Well, he brought up the example of the Kurdish women's units. I strongly suspect their reputation has been propagandaised out or proportion to reality, but there are historical example of women performing well in combat roles. Lydia Litvak and Hanna Reitsch come to mind.

[–] im_the_dude_man 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

They do serve in combat roles already. As crew chiefs on helicopters, or in cool terms "door gunners". One of the female crew chiefs I worked with received a medal for bravery. Many women also served in the lionness program which put them on the ground and very much in harm's way. Though, I do not believe they should serve as grunts or motor t. It's extremely ridiculous that this issue is being shoved down our throats.

Holy shit, there is nothing in that blog post that should offend anyone. Wow, is this how far our educational system has fallen? Who is at the helm?

Even the letter sent from the Dean was obviously in full support of the teacher. Did he even read the blog? I think not...

If I were the vet, I would be thinking discrimination lawsuit.

You sure that's it?

From the article:

"The student was asked by the professor to create a blog post in reaction to the topic of feminism. And the student’s post offered a conservative dissent to the topic of feminism, citing women as, “the freest and most liberated in human history” utilizing research conducted by the American Enterprise Institute."

I don't see that line in the blog post.

This clearly an assault on his First Amendment rights and the fact the cunt was successful in getting his educational benefits stopped is even more reason. I went to college in the mid 1980's and my son just received his MBA last December. The differences in prevailing attitudes is fucking appalling! If I were in school now,I would be labeled a subversive and put on some kind of government watch list.I took a history class titled, Feminism Throughout U.S. History and vehemently disagreed with the professor. I challenged her every day,but did so in a respectful manor and backed my arguments with facts. I got an A,my average for the class was 105% and I learned more from her than any other class(and got laid many times).

Uh, what? That's not true. That's not true at all. I work in a private college, I had to spend two days taking title IX training, as did all my co-workers. Any school that received financial aid is required to comply. Every credited school in the US accepts financial aid. Therefore, private or public makes no difference.

The first thing that should have happened is when she called the police, they should have walked in, said WTF? and arrested her for filing a false police report, taken the bitch to jail and made an example of her. That in itself would go a long way to stopping this obvious bullshit.

We are now in a world made up of these morons, everything one says is subject to some other idiots feelings. The ones running these schools are at the helm of these sinking ships with no fortitude whatsoever. I'd of fired the teacher on the spot, if she had tenure, she'd be in a lawsuit for the rest of her life, good luck ever making a nickel off your bullshit. These people are unfit to teach anything.

I hope the Vet doesn't just let this go.

The professor honestly believes that words can hurt, that's how she could claim she was being bullied and felt unsafe.

This is posted on her 'blog' "Whoever said “sticks and stones may break your bones, but words will never hurt you” lived in a hut in the wilderness and never spoke to anyone, least of all himself. Words transport life. In the 24-hour multi-media news cycle, where words race through the Internet like super sonic weapons, words can do more than wound. Words, at their worst, trivialize, dehumanize and marginalize."

It's called microaggression. Aggression is violence and violence is to be met with violence. Thus if words can be aggression and aggression is violence, it means the appropriate response to words is violence. See how the world works in 1984?

It's the same thing with whiteness. whiteness + nationalism + racism = Nazis --- therefore whiteness always leads to Nazism.

That's bullshit that he lost his military education benefit because of this cunt. Unless we are missing some smoking gun evidence that he actually threatened the professor or class, not simply from having a differing opinion, he got a raw deal. The university is rotten to the core if they allow this to go through. At least allow him to drop the class without penalty.

[–] Broc_Lia [S] 0 points 13 points (+13|-0) ago

Couple of things pointed out in the KiA thread:

  • He may not have lost his benefits entirely since he was kicked out rather than dropping the class.

  • If there had been evidence of any actual crime it would surely have shown up in the police report.

You don't lose benefits for this, but you don't get reimbursement. It's treated as a failed class and you pay out of pocket or have to pay back the VA before you can receive ongoing benefits. I withdrew and had to return the money in order to get paid for the follow semester.
