I'm not in a union and have a really good insurance plan. Nothing out of my pocket. There are still some good companies out there. I like Sanders more so than Hillary, but single payer would only work in the long run if the cost of healthcare could be drastically reduced as well. You can't have the government pay all the bills and just pay any invoice the medical practitioner or the hospital sends out. At some point this would be unsustainable.

You're correct, but when you as a government can negotiate with the drug companies you get better prices. It's not that Canadian drugs are made more cheaply. They just have better bargaining power. Everything in the medical industry is through the roof because of the games they play with insurance companies. We would get an immediate cost savings from shutting down medical billing departments though!

Which means government takeover of most of healthcare facilities and workers. Doctors won't be happy.
