I had recently considered getting into the primaries as well - I hadn't gotten as far as looking up how that all worked and it looks as though I'm too late anyway. My thought process was that Hillary seems to have a pretty secure spot as the democratic candidate which I'm somewhat unhappy with but maybe I can help sway the republican party. If I'm honest, I don't know how this works but what I do know is that by the time we get to the general election we've got a choice between Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum and it's too late. At this point, I honestly don't care if a Dem or Rep wins because it's the same thing (I know I'm not the first to say this, sorry for ranting). I'm just going to vote for anything that isn't in one of those two parties, but I also want to get involved in changing the candidates those parties put out since that's closer to where the actual decisions are being made. I hate politics and I don't want to get involved in it but it's really hard to watch this and do nothing.

The delegates do select the contenders for the general election but sadly after Ron Paul collecting quite a few delegates, (perhaps also that Dean fellow, thought I am not as familiar) they started altering the system to make states winner take all. This means individual delegate votes get changed if the majority of the state's delegates vote a certain way. It made it much harder to procure the set amount of delegates.
