I'm not like super progun but I'm not anti-gun either and when people make comments like "ZOMG law abiding citizens can now carry guns w/o a permit! Oh the hunanity!" I wonder if they have ever considered the reality that CRIMINALS have had it that way forever. I don't feel safer because of more guns in civilian hands though... but still think its unfair to outcry against normal people being allowed to arm themselves.

Nice. Armed civilians are good.

Well I never had a reason to go to Kansas anyway, but now I will be consciously avoiding it.

I have a hard enough time trusting people in general, way less so when they might be carrying a gun with them everywhere without even needing a permit. At least normal idiots have to work hard to bring unnecessary deadly force to a situation. I've seen enough people lose their minds in ridiculous situations to know that arming them is not the right answer.

A couple points to the people who say things like "Now I'll never go to Kansas".

1 Pretty good chance that you were never going to Kansas in the first place

2 Have you ever been to Kansas? I have many times and gun violence is not something you worry about. A bigger concern is whether to eat Oklahoma's Joes or Arthur Bryant's.

Kansas has 2.2 gun murders per 100,000 people and 42% of the population owns a gun. DC has 16.5 gun murders per 100,000 and 3.6% of the population owns a gun. There is not a correlation between states with loose gun laws and high crime.

Bringing facts and logic to an anti-gun circlejerk? Sounds like an exercise in frustration. ;p

If you live in an area where you need a gun to feel safe you should probably move somewhere more civilized.

Not everyone has a choice or means to do so. Ever heard of Gary, Indiana? Such a crime filled cesspool. Industry went under, those who could get out got out. The rest are stuck and are either driven to crime or are forced to live among crime. In a world ruled by money, just moving to "somewhere more civilized" is not an option to all people. I know if I was unfortunate enough to be in Gary, I'd want a gun with me no matter where I was.

There are several places on this planet that aren't war zones or a "crime filled cesspool".

So you are saying that you always need to carry a gun to be feel safe?

The probability of a mentally ill person killing someone is so low in every place I lived in (until now?) that it doesn't justify being afraid of it.

When I think of Kansas and guns, I think of John Brown.
