His problem is the tougher issues are always the same solution- remove it or privatize it.

Yes, most of the everyday issues he has a no-nonsense approach that is refreshing to see. If that was all, then he would be golden. But he also preaches to remove the Fed and bring back the gold standard. Too late, we don't have enough gold, nor can we obtain enough, to monetize the dollar at current or even near current value. The economy of the US and the world would implode overnight.

Audit the Fed- this should have been his main, and only, battle cry. Clean out the corruption and get proper enforcement of their regulations. Oops, Reguation, I said the Neo-Libertarian dirty word, didn't I?

I say envision what a Paul presidency would have been like. You don't have to agree with everything he says, and the President primarily has power over foreign policy, and the military. That's what I care about, that's where I found common ground. Paul wouldn't have been able to enact his now-radical strict constitutional interpretation, but he would have used the bully pulpit to make the constitution an issue.

I think a lot of the rationalization of not supporting Ron Paul comes from people who envision him as having absolute power if he was elected president. It's funny when the same people excuse Obama for not being able to accomplish any of his stated goals.

I wanted to stop the senseless violence and overreach of power, and Paul would have only had the political capitol to tackle those key issues and a few others. I highly doubt a Paul presidency would have seen the eradication of the FDA, the Department of Education, or the EPA. There wouldn't have been the support needed to accomplish those things, even if he wanted to put them on the high priority list.

But you also have to look at the big picture. loot at the Congress we have right now. Full of overbearing teabaggers and bought-out Kochsuckers. A President that aslo wants to delete the EPA, DOE, and all the other regulatory agencies = massive disaster we might never recover from.
