I kinda wish green tech weren't so bogged down in the "stop global warming" narrative. Development in that field is necessary for human civilization to continue down its current path of technology. Oil and coal won't be here forever.

If you call that fear mongering, I don't know what else to say. My word would be reality, but that's none of my business.

It will never be efficient enough to be viable. Nuclear power is what we should be focusing on, but that is also being bogged down do to more fear mongering

Depends on what technology you're referring to. Solar has payoff periods less than the lifespan of the modules (and has had them for the last ~5 years depending on company). Wind and geothermal are also great technologies that can be employed to offset peak usage. You're correct that nuclear (fission and fusion) are necessary for long-term energy solutions, but also fall under the umbrella of green tech. Anything that is more sustainable than fossil fuels and enables a post-fossil fuel energy economy does, in my opinion.
