Very misleading - considering that the Koch brothers are, well, two people, while this article lists the top of the list as Act Blue, a website apparently where millions of people are able to donate a few here and there. The others are unions (AFSCME at the top) which are masses of people represented by one company - but I guess companies are people now, so whatever; the article is technically right.

I was thinking the exact same thing. 2 individuals personal agendas vs millions with the Unions and Act Blue.

Millions of involuntary donors.

Also, they use their money to form super PACs. While their individual influence may amount to tens of millions of dollars, it's used to pool the resources of a hand full of billionaires, amounting to combined contributions in the hundreds of millions of dollars. This article is a white wash.

I think the term you're looking for is "partisan bullshit".

That won't stop idiots from repeating these "facts" ad nauseum

The only problem is that it is not the union members who give the money but the Union bosses. As a Union Member you have NO CHOICE about who you give to or how much. You are assessed so much money for political action which the Union bosses determine who they will give to. This Unions only collect money from their members to support Politics for the union members is just a TON OF BULL SHIT. IF YOU BELIEVE THAT YOU ARE EITHER A UNION SHILL OF A TOTAL FUCKING MORON WHO SHOULD BE BARRED FROM VOTING.

This is an excellent point; I wonder to what extent unions treat their people like complete morons and use up all of their "piggy bank" money to support the wrong candidate.

Yes, but of those millions not all of them are giving willingly. I've been hearing stories of employees being told in so many words they have to donate to (insert Union canadate of choice) or else.

Isn't this talking about direct contributions though? I thought that donations to PACs and other things like that don't have to be publicly disclosed. That adds way more money across the board for many groups/people.

That article is weird, "Act Blue" is a payment processor for Democratic Party candidates, that's like saying PayPal is buying everything on ebay. Something tells me they know that lie will fly because none of their readers are going to have gone through the donation process.

Also, did we just stop giving a shit about sources? Did anyone see the hilarity on the side bar?

We stopped giving a shit about sources a while ago.

I love Voat because I'll see important news I wouldn't see on Reddit. But I also hate Voat because I'll see ridiculously misleading news I wouldn't see on Reddit.

Money in politics is fine as long as it comes from progressives. Duh!

No, I hate George Soros and I hate the Koch brothers. I also hate Peter G. Peterson, who towers over both.

In other words, the fact that you try to deflect this onto "progressives" is fucking retarded. We are outraged that so much money is in politics at all, it has nothing to do with partisanship.

Typical, Democrats get upset when anyone else tries to play their game.

You guys will never be happy. Money is the mother's milk of politics...turns out the person who said that was...wait for it... A Democrat. Jesse Unruh. Of course, Republicans believe it as well. Dems pretend to be for the "little guy;" on their watch, we now have the "1%" who have most of everything. Not that I care.
Both parties are unquestionably corrupt. Reason I can't stand the Dems is their hypocrisy: "All animals are equal, only some are more equal than others..." a quote, interestingly enough, by the pigs in Animal Farm. Perhaps that ought to be the symbol of both parties now. Pigs. Or hogs. Whichever is bigger. For the intelligent among you, I commend you to Pogo, the great political commentator, Here, and possibly the creator of Bloom County, but I still prefer Gary Larson... Or perhaps Lil Abner (in my opinion, the best of all, though Pogo is certainly a close second). Cartoons tell the story so much better than we could.

Kind of goes along with the idea that the elites donate to leftists, leftist politicians make people dependent, so through the power of politics and influence, the elite control everyone
