In highly complex systems, anything that can happen eventually will happen, if given a long enough time period and high event frequency.
It has meaning for anyone who's studied history and or evolution. I'm sorry your education was so shitty.
You'd be amazed at the things Americans are willing to fight, kill, and die over. Hell, we murdered 500,000 of ourselves just because a few rich people owned a few black people. Notice, we never cared much about black people before or after that though. We invented Mutually Assured Destruction, for no other reason than another country had economic and political influence in Eastern Europe.
Do you honestly think Americans wouldn't burn the world up over something as fundamental as class conflict or the definition of liberty, given the right conditions?
