A lot of the workforce is not working. So 20% of nothing isn't helping. Maybe if we get rid of the earned income credit.

I am reading and under the impression that our Savior Bernie Sanders will be creating tons of jobs by rebuilding infrastructure which is of course much needed.
I think the overall point here is that 20% of $0 may be nothing but why should millions of people be receiving free education, free healthcare when they aren't contributing anything?

We need to decide as a society what things all humans deserve regardless of their worth, social status, and economic status. We already pay taxes to ensure all humans can have a public education (K through 12). Bernie is proposing we extend that to an undergraduate degree. I think the reasoning is that social mobility is pretty stifled without a college degree these days. We invest in children with the assumption that they will contribute eventually, but don't deny them an education if their parents don't contribute etc.

The recession which started in 2008 destroyed tons of jobs. Who benefited the rich and who were the the middle class and poor. We should provide these things for free in order to keep these people afloat. Jobs have not returned the rich are richer than ever and the poor are barely holding on. Not to mention the violence that ensues from poor uneducated countries. Look at Africa, Parts of Brazil, etc.
