Ya this guy is arguing that the majority democrats believe:

-fossil fuels should be completely banned

-no individual should earn more than a set amount of money each year

-some form of global government should be installed

-private ownership of firearms should be banned

-social justice should be pursued by any means necessary

I think he needs to check his facts a bit.

Those are dramatic misrepresentations of his positions.

Yet you anti authoritarians typically ignore the tyranny of concentrated capital and it's inherently coercive totalitarian nature

It amazes me that someone who has been in politics the vast majority of his adult life, in the US House of Representatives for 16 years and the US Senate for 9 can be cast as an 'outsider'.

No, he isn't. He wants more statism and bigger government just like pretty much all of his colleagues on both sides of the aisle. The only difference is that he wants to ramp up the statism at a faster rate than most people in Congress.

Ron Paul and now Justin Amash come to mind as the "inside outsiders" you're describing. They're the ones who have actually represented a real change of course on what the federal government's role in society should be.

It's mainly because the progressive left platform relies heavily on the myth that they're all outsiders, oppressed victims and underdogs fighting against a status quo that keeps them down. Admitting that they are the establishment and have been for a century would significantly reduce their appeal while forcing them to take responsibility for the damage their policies have caused (instead of shifting the blame).

Well I guess he is an outsider in that, like Trump, he doesnt really fit into the two party system. They both only took one of the major sides because running as an independent is far more difficult that being a party underdog.

He's 10 years ahead of his time. The democratic party hasn't morphed into the communist party yet

It's the whole not-accepting-corporate-money thing. It completely subverts normal politics and power structures.

Except he hasn't taken any corporate donations. That's what being on the outside means these days, since corporations are so embedded in our government.

No one in politics is an outsider. We would have to pick peole at random to get an outsider.

What a piece of shit this article is.

I mean it would take an entire separate article just to get through all the horseshit within this garbage. Bernie Sanders wants to ban people from owning guns? What? That has been the biggest criticism against from the left: he's too soft on gun control. He regularly points out the he is from a rural state where guns are part of their hunting culture. Sanders thinks certain types of speech should be criminalized? Again...what the fuck is this retard talking about?

Also, what the hell is with the bullshit about most registered Democrats agreeing with all Bernie's supposed views, but voting for Hillary because they aren't sure the country is ready for the ideas they support? What the fuck kind of mental gymnastics had to be done to write this shit? God damn some people are stupid partisan fucks. Sanders is not even an actual Democrat you dumbshits. He's running as a Democrat because no third party candidate can win. He's always been an Independent specifically because he does not agree with the Democrat party on many issues. When he says "Democratic Socialist" he is not referring to his party but his philosophy. You people are actual morons.

He's said it himself.

Also, what the hell is with the bullshit about most registered Democrats agreeing with all Bernie's supposed views, but voting for Hillary because they aren't sure the country is ready for the ideas they support?

Have you been living under a rock? Every election cycle, people hold their noses and vote for the Romneys and Hillarys of the world because they're "electable," "the lesser of two evils" and "a third party is a wasted vote." That's the phenomenon they're referring to.

Banning "CERTAIN TYPES OF ASSAULT WEAPONS" is not banning all guns. That is an exaggeration and not accurate or true to try and claim.

And no, people who are voting for them do like them. I've never voted for either of them. People vote for who they like, this guy is a moron to assume all Democrats agree with Sanders. Again, he is not even a Democrat for fucks sake.

I always thought it was funny how everyone would cry about the media ignoring Bernie while he was on the cover of TIME magazine

[–] paidshill 1 points 2 points (+3|-1) ago

It was always coming from "low information voters", people who never actually watch or read any news, just repeat stuff they hear on the internet and left wing political comedy shows. I saw a long CBS interview with Bernie months before any other candidate. I probably watch, read, or listen to mainstream news from various sources at least an hour each day, and Bernie was easily the third most discussed presidential candidate this summer. Trump and Hilary got more attention because they're more popular, which I guess is really hard for Bernie fans to understand.
