I'm more comfortable using the royal we in this context than resolving our state of responsibility simply because we have a new president. Our values continue to be what they were.. I wasn't alive when our country's then-government led a coup of Iran's government with the help of the British, but it was something our country did. Understanding the world requires that we view it through the lens of history, and distancing ourselves from it is to pretend we have ceased to be bad actors.

I understand what you're saying, but I mean more so on terms that what our politicians are doing aren't speaking for the majority. I think. But then again that's their job and its speaking to the ones with majority of the money. So of course the world could think that all Americans wanted all this.
