I get why people are annoyed by this. It's a shameless ploy but the mother fucker is 14. His dad is the real perpetrator here. If it was done just to garner media attention we should demonize the right person. Thoughts?

I was basically thinking the same thing, minus the dad to be completely honest. Not because there is reason to protect the dad, but because there is no reason to talk about him.

FFS, some 14 y/o put clock guts in a case. I would absolutely not put it past some edgy kid to do something like this just to fuck with a bunch of paranoid white people, not realizing that paranoid Texans will arrest a brown kid in a heartbeat. I guarantee you it took him 30 mins tops, then right back to Rocket League on his PS4.

I'm far more annoyed by everyone continuing to talk about some brown teenager who put clock guts in a sketchy looking case and got arrested than I am about some brown teenager who put clock guts in a sketchy looking case and got arrested.

But you... are talking about it?

There's plenty of reason to talk about the dad. He's a presidential candidate from Sudan and he loves getting media attention. I wouldn't be surprised if he used his son to make this happen, to help his political career. He got invited to the white house to meet with Obama! Seems like that would help a Sudanese politicians career quite a bit.

His dad also owns a travel company called "Twin Towers Transportation" that has revenue of $1.5 million per year.

There are a LOT of fishy things going on with the dad.

He told the first teacher he showed it to that it only took 20 mins. They were not super impressed and told him to come up with something better or something along those lines.

That's true too. If someone told me this story I'd think 'I could not careless. Of course the police were called students get arrested all the time for dumb shit.'

But since everyone is talking about it I thought I'd give my worthless two cents.

The problem is that people keep buying into the same ploy over and over again and the media is so far gone that they never correct themselves after the fact.

Media for a lot of people is just a passing headline. Muslim arrested for building a clock. The problem is that people just see that and form an opinion. I'm 26 and for as long as I can remember the media has been the same. People are generally lazy and as a whole we get what we deserve.

Well as an experiment why don't we walk into a public place with one half of a bomb and then not answer questions and see what happens.
