Well, yes and no. The DNC is only sanctioning six debates, exactly like last time. But, there were a bunch of unsanctioned debates last time, but the media will not cover an unsanctioned debate without the frontrunner. Which works out just perfectly for Hillary. She can say it's unsanctioned and she's not going to do it, the media will not have it without her.

But last time was a incumbent president. The last time we didn't have an incumbent was in 2008. In 2008 they had 26 debates.

Unfortunately each party has a lot of control over their respective primary contests.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_election_debates#Debate_sponsorship

"The League of Women Voters is withdrawing sponsorship of the presidential debates...because the demands of the two campaign organizations would perpetrate a fraud on the American voter. It has become clear to us that the candidates' organizations aim to add debates to their list of campaign-trail charades devoid of substance, spontaneity and answers to tough questions. The League has no intention of becoming an accessory to the hoodwinking of the American public."

The rank and file are actually demanding debates

It's going to be interesting to see if they are more willing to take a risk on, losing control of the process or suppressing their own turnout.

As Rhino said upthread, they want sHillary. What they aren't willing to accept is her credibility is shot to shit and hung for stinking.

If they field her as their main candidate Trump will be patting her on the head come polling night will saying "Nice try, I'll have you in for lunch one day".

The DP just can't get it through their skulls how big a liability she has become.

Because they want to shield Shillary from answering any questions and protect Bernie from inevitably saying retarded shit.

They don't want to help Bernie. They would like him to say stupid shit, they just don't want to give him airtime because he'll get name recognition.

Yea, but crazy old Joe Biden will make Bernie look good. Come to think of it, the DNC doesn't have anyone worth a damn.

I want Biden to run just for the entertaining crap that will come out of his mouth.

Sanders was independent, but joined the democratic party for the election. The only legitimate candidate is basically on loan. It was a damn bold move strategically that pissed me off when I first heard, but it gave them someone other than Clinton. And I don't have to live with the depression of seeing Bernie Nader his way through countless elections...

He's an Independent In Name Only. He caucuses with the Democrats and won because the Democrats supported him throughout his years in office.

Every time Hillary speaks, she loses votes.

DNC wants her. So no debates.

cause Bernie would stomp their teeth in in a way that would make American history X look like little kids playing on the playground. Hilary has already been ordained as the next candidate, they want to make sure that bernie has as limited chance as possible to have an impression or they risk splitting the dems. This happened in the republican party with romney and they did pretty good damage control but the dems don't want it to get that far.

There hasn't been a debate because they don't want Bernie Sanders having a national audience to speak on the topics that have helped him gain attention.
