"Not only will I NOT comply, I question your ability to educate my daughter. At the point in time where reasonable people cannot understand that our children need quality role models is the point that I have to question whether or not you are capable of independent thought. Wonder woman was and has always been a symbol of justice to fight against people who would do evil. That you would focus on the violence and ignore the moral of her story is ridiculous. I expect more from my teachers and my educators that would sexualize a super heroine and put blinders on to the message because of the fact that she fits within a particular genre. Will you ban all pictures of predatory animals since they also are extremely violent to the point of tearing flesh from limbs? I must say if it is violence that you are worried about, then this is most definitely a concern and I will look forward to the new dress code that also includes all predatory animals. Until then I find your letter to be ridiculously ignorant and I refuse to teach my daughter that she must only have heroes who sit quietly in the corner obeying their male counterparts."

(Pretty sure something like this needs to be sent. It hits all the points and has a little SJW flair at the end to scare them a bit)

Well said. So their stupid code should apply to sports team jerseys (hawks, lions, cougars). And also would very effectively ban probably 95% of all written literature, including Romeo and Juliet and the bulk of Shakespeare, ancient / Greek mythology, American History, and pretty much everything else.

Pretty sure they shouldn't have a football team in their system. Considering that it's a very 'violent' sport.

(Hyperbolic yes, but it's their code)

She's taking a Wonder Woman lunchbox to school. Something tells me Shakespeare and ancient Greek mythology isn't in the curriculum.

How do are they supposed to teach kids about this country without telling them about the violent bits? I mean, this country is founded on violence. Even now, we are a violent country through and through

In keeping with the school's code of conduct, they should remove any and all police and armed forces imagery because they solve problems using violence. Also in keeping with the ban of violent imagery, the American anthem should also be banned because of its references to war and thus violence. /s

I think that we can reach an easy compromise here. Wonder Woman could promise to restrict her evil countermeasure to using her lasso of truth.

I'd like to point out that this is most likely from a religious paid-for private school.

This is BRILLIANT. Now I almost hope that I get a letter like this from my kid's school one day just so I can use this idea. Then if the school whines about that, too, I can say "DON'T YOU SUPPORT THE TROOPS, YOU TRAITOR?!" Haha!

Ianal but I am pretty sure the Federal government has a few things to say about banning the US Army insingia in a workplace, private or public. It may not be the child's "place of work," but somebody works at this school, and harrassing the child for brandishing Army propaganda is likely forbidde.

Those two fucks ruined my chances of ever wearing a trench coat to school. I really was looking forward to wearing a trench coat. Fuckers made me waste money.

Friends were big into playing quake. And some were pretty goth(weirdos) but none of them were violent or depressed types. Then the big myth came out the columbine shooters were bullied goth kids part of the trench coat mafia or some shit. School I worked at went full retard and banned black trench coats, leather jackets, and video game shirts depicting violent games. They also kicked out one kid for drafting a layout of the high school. Later as it turned out the columbine shooters weren't part of the trench coat mafia, and a lot of students reported them as the bully jock types. They even targeted Marilyn Manson and Nine Inch Nails at my school because one of the shooters wore a def leopard shirt? Shit doesn't make sense.

Slaves. If violence solved nothing, we wouldn't need prisons, prison guards, police, or police weapons. The government wants a monopoly on violence and training children violence never solved anything helps build slave ethos

We'll the guy who created her had a live in mistress and a bondage fetish that features prominently in the wonder woman mythos. So I can see them already not liking her for that. Fun fact the guy also invented the lie detector.

Wonder Woman is the exact opposite of a 3rd wave feminist.

Biggest difference is, she doesn't spend time complaining about stupid shit like the patriarchy. She just goes out and is a bad ass without making excuses.

The Amazons on Themyscria are the example of 3rd wave feminists. Constantly complaining about stupid shit and generally speaking none of them are very useful.

You should start a charter school. Superhero lunchboxes and toy guns for every kid.

[–] rivalarrival 0 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago

Why would you give them toy guns? If we're going to the effort to put together a charter school, let's put a pistol range in the basement.

This kind of crap is the reason my two kids are home schooled as well. There was a well publicized incident near me, where an elementary school girl was expelled for bringing a "dangerous weapon" onto school grounds. The weapon was a Tweety Bird key chain that had about 5 small links of chain between the key ring and the Tweety Bird figure. The school handbook listed chain as a dangerous weapon. Facepalm.

The only problem I've found with home schooling is that the majority of people assume I'm a religious wacko when I tell them that we home school.

My best friend in high school's youngest brother got arrested and charged with a felony at 10 years old. He was a cub scout, and he realized at his elementary school that he had accidentally brought his pocket knife in his backpack after having taken it for a weekend camping trip. He turned the knife in to his teacher explaining what happened. She called the police and they arrested him and he was charged with a felony and suspended for school for 2 weeks. The teacher said it was policy and she didn't have a choice, and next time something like that happens to just keep it a secret.

It used to be that homeschooled meant you had fundamentalist crazies for parents and they were trying to shelter you from evil "science."

Yes. And this child should continue to bring the lunchbox to school and they should refuse to hand it over if asked. What will the school do to solve this problem? Eventually someone is going to have hands put on them.

All rules with any teeth are ultimately enforced by violence. The very existence of this rule is a threat of violence.

Send them with a lunchbox with an image of the cops standing over a dying child with a wonderwoman lunchbox, bending over to handcuff the soon-dead kid's hands in a large pool of blood. Caption: You refused to respect the dress code, scumbag!
