well it would never happen in america but historically every populist nation in south america became a dictatorship

i think 2 didnt? columbia and mexico

On the flip side, Western European countries(which is a much better comparison) have had populist leaders with no dictatorships. I mean, Syriza is populist and while they are a terrible party, Greece is in no danger of becoming a dictatorship.

i thought they vote for the party and the person elected isnt the populist candidate its whoever is the leader of the party? or is that only the UK?
