No you wouldn't. Trump has no ability to negotiate. I'm not a fan of Democrats or Obama, but Trump if elected will usher in WW3 with his stupidity. He has zero foreign policy savvy. Zero.

Trump has no ability to negotiate

You don't get into the position he is in without the ability to negotiate. Just because he sounds like a blowhard that always gets what he wants doesn't mean that there isn't a lot of negotiating going on in the back rooms to make his real estate deals work. He has even said as much if you look into it.

The concern would be that his willingness to make concessions in negotiations is probably inversely proportional to the power he thinks he has. The more power he has the more he can ignore other people's concerns and just demand what he wants. When negotiating foreign policy that is either a good thing or a bad thing. Do what I say because I'm the USA and will destroy you is powerful if you think he will follow through. Who wouldn't think he would follow through with that?

Trump received his position from his real estate magnate father. He didn't earn it. He's bankrupted several ventures which were deferred to tax payers. His negotiation skills are one way tactics and he has the charisma of a wet turd.

Trump was heir to his father's ~$250 million real estate company. He could easily have gotten to his position doing nothing at all.

That would be my fear from a foreign policy standpoint. He has all the forcefulness of Putin, but none of the restraint. Definitely the type of person you want having control over a LOT of weapons and the most powerful military in the world....

Eh it's not true that unless I'm as rich as Trump I somehow can't tell that he would be a terrible president. He's an idiot. He's just saying all the things the nuts want to hear right now.

This is specious at best. You are arguing that I have no room to voice an opinion on his foreign policy negotiating skills of which he has no experience based upon my supposed lack of business experience myself.

The reason why this argument doesn't fly is twofold. First I'm stating an opinion, so my room to judge is based upon my own views and you saying I have no ability to use those views to judge is fallacious. Secondly, unless YOU are a manager of a multi-billion dollar empire why is your opinion against my opinion somehow more valid?

I agree completely that I'd rather have a businessman in the White House than a career politician, but the idea that in a discussion of theoreticals (i.e. how would Trump do in foreign policy negotiations) that one of us is not allowed to speculate is rather overreaching don't you think?

even if you disagree with this point, you have to recognize that it plays very well with most voters, the vast majority of whom don't know shit about high-level business, politics, or any of it. Trump knows his audience.

I disagree with your comment, but upvoated to counter others downvoats. Only because your comment does add to the discussion at hand.

You're getting downvoated because you're making ridiculous and clearly false claims.

To be clear, the statement,

Trump has no ability to negotiate.

is patently incorrect. That statement has a truth value of "incorrect", therefore, I downvoat you until you stop the hyperbole and start contributing to the dialogue.

And then let's compare it to who is negotiating: John Kerry. In another life, I worked for this man. I know first hand that he is bumbling nincompoop. I can think of 10 personal friends with more international experience in business and negotiating who would be more qualified, and that's not meant to talk up my friends. He's a dolt.

Or you could understand that the context is in foreign policy not in business. Do you really think that Trump has any ability to negotiate with Putin? As in Putin gives him ANY respect whatsoever? I'm sure that Putin would meet with him, but to think that if Trump became the US president, that North Korea, Russia, Iran, etc. would look at Trump and be willing to negotiate is naivety. They would laugh in his face.

My point is not that Trump doesn't have the ability to try to negotiate. He has no respect from the outside world and therefore no ability short of military threat to produce change. Of course, Trump could always put someone else in that place, but that still leaves you an empty figurehead as your world leader.

The point is salient, even if you disagree with it. I personally would laugh to his face if I was one of those leaders. He's a blowhard, even he will tell you that he whines. ""I do whine because I want to win and I'm not happy about not winning and I am a whiner and I keep whining and whining until I win."

This is the guy that supposedly will be able to negotiate with our enemies?
