I agree that is is an important duty but if you want to get out of it just say you are opposed to convicting anyone because of "institutional racism", "jury nullification", or just say something really racist like, "how did you become a lawyer? You're black". You will be excused.

They'll probably charge me with contempt of court or something with my luck. But seriously I wouldn't have an issue if it was a little more of a streamlined process and not quite as miserable and drawn out for such a long period of time. Also thus far the people I have had to talk to are pretty much on par with those at the DMV so ...

I know our district clerks so I never get called up unfortunately. I would love to be on a jury.
