He will get a fair trial if he comes back! If 'fair' means 'ass', and by 'trial' means 'reaming'.

Don't pretend this anything other than what it is: harassment and punishment.

Exactly. It's a move to suppress future free speech such as her article from May titled "We're citizens, not subjects. We have the right to criticize government without fear". I'm sure the irony is not lost.

While I don't agree with harassment of Bradly Manning. I can understand the anger of Americans over having to foot the bill of HIS gender reassignment bill. I know people will hate me for this, but it is totally understandable for Americans with little to no insurance to be angry over the fact that HE got a costly surgery while some people living here can't afford insurance. I respect what HE did for us, but that ruined it completely.

Hate me for my opinion, but it is what is is. I am allowed to have it.

You are allowed to have any opinion you want, but this one simply has no relevant to the topic at hand, does it? Replace the name "Manning" with any other; what we have here is a story about the abuse of someone who opposed the government by uncovering a war crime. Actually you can ignore the last part as well; it's a story of abuse of prisoners who can't defend themselves.

Talking about hating Manning strongly reeks of distraction from the problem at hand.

I don't care what name you put to it. There are kids and adults here dying of medical issues, and we are spending 10s of thousand on inmates. Cutting off dicks and doing addadicktomes. while kids are dying of curable situations. Does Bradly Manning deserve a Vagina more the a 9 year deserve life? Hell no, you would have to be retarded to think that.

But to direct that anger on to him is a race to the bottom. The anger should be directed to the issue of people NOT getting the basic care they need.

That is what pisses me off. I am a single father. I have been for almost a decade. I haven't had insurance for myself for the same time. I have it for my daughter though. I Don't want government insurance..In fact I won't take it. It just pisses me of that what free money I have goes to 9 years of daughter insurance. And Someone like BRADLY Manning get a part of my money I could use for myself. I have started getting seizures, but I I can't complain. I have to tough it out. And work my ass off till I can find a way to afford both. I will not join in on the Obamacare.

I don't wan't to take your money.

Plenty of uninsured working Americans aren't getting necessary medical care, and that's fucked. I totally agree. They should absolutely be getting medical care! That's what you should be complaining about.

But this particular surgery is a complete non-issue. The tiniest, most infinitesimally-microscopic portion of your tax dollars is paying for surgeries like Chelsea Manning's. There are far bigger wastes of money that we could be fighting to reallocate to things like hard-working Americans getting necessary medical care. But instead a guy getting a sex-change is making us squabble with each other.

You can have whatever opinion you want, but it's still bullshit. You're actually upset that everyone doesn't have access to the costly surgeries they need, but the fact that one person got their healthcare for free and you don't makes you envious.

Chelsea Manning isn't a problem; it's a) our surveillance system, b) our healthcare system, and c) our justice system.

Why be upset specifically over the cost of a sex reassignment surgery? Money is fungible. Why not be upset over the relatively astronomical cost to the taxpayers to keep him, and others like him in jail indefinitely? We are paying for that as well. The cost of the surgery pales in comparison.

What he did to end up in prison to me is totally acceptable. i wish he was in my community. I already said I respect him for what he did. I just don't accept the gender reassignment he made us pay for. If he paid for it, i wouldn't give one fuck over it. I wouldn't consider him a woman, but i would play along for his benefit. I am an ass, not that mush of one though.

Inevitable outcome when society insists on imprisoning people for every petty thing, then using the cells as concrete rape boxes where bad people are sent to be tortured for decades.

I've been to jails before (ex wife was a probation officer), and they do NOT tolerate contraband, including things like unauthorized magazines. This sounds like par for the course.

[–] cwt 1 points 5 points (+6|-1) ago

It's par for the course, but that doesn't mean we should accept it.

I think prisoners should be allowed to read whatever they want (other than things like manuals on making weapons or breaking out of prison).

What a dangerous animal, reading a magazine. That's almost as bad as people that swim underneath no swimming signs or someone that ignores the crosswalk pedestrian indicator when there isn't any traffic in roadkill distance. Good thing our jails are willing to hold them all. Swimmers, readers, walkers, talkers, thinkers. Imprison them all!

The government is really serious about oral health. The only thing I got out of the story.

Edit: The post title is inaccurate. 'possibly facing' would have been better.
