I can respect your position. I guess it's
impossibleimportant to remember that the free education policy was introduced at a time when Ireland was in a worse recession than 2008 and it served to make Ireland marketable as a country with a highly-educated and English speaking workforce. It's not entirely free either, the government pays your tuition fees once for a four year course. If you have to repeat any years or study further afterwards you have to pay for yourself. Plus there's an annual capitation fee that is currently about 5,000 I think but it's been steadily increasing every year. It was 3,500 when I was in college back in 2008.About the healthcare one, we have private hospitals as well and most people don't qualify for a medical card. It really is only for the most vulnerable in society. I tried to get one when I was 23 and on the dole and I couldn't get one, they don't just hand them out to anybody.
