Operating on fear is pretty much the entire progressive playbook. I know lefties (including family members) and I really don't understand why they are so fearful.
They truly believe the ChiCom flu is MUCH more dangerous than it is. They truly believe not wearing a mask all the time can only be done out of a complete disregard for others if not a deeper misanthropy. They truly believe the country has become a fascist state since Trump was elected.
And all of these are just irrational fear based reactions immune to reason or facts. It's weird. It's especially weird because they aren't otherwise stupid people if we are measuring intellectual abilities beyond political philosophy and everyday life. They are good at math, have generally good logical thinking to solve problems on IQ tests and such, et cetera.

I know really smart people who are completely overreacting to corona and basically believe anything cnn or abc says. I know people of average intellect who are easily able to see through the bullshit and attempts to create fear. Doesnt seem like IQ correlates directly to being able to look at this situation rationally.
