AN OPEN LETTER TO SCOTT BRADLEE AND POSTMODERN JUKEBOX from @blackatpmj

A lot of you know my history with @pmjofficial. I’ve been with them since day one and because of @scottbradlee, I’ve been able to pursue my dreams of becoming a singer. And while I’ve always lauded the group for being organically diverse, there unfortunately has been a lack of support and respect towards some of its Black members over the years.

I’m disappointed to see a group that has celebrated Black music, artists, and art forms refuse to take a stand with the Black Lives Matter movement. My assumption is that they are afraid to lose fans. But by not standing with the movement they are saying that their racist fans are more important than their Black members, and that is simply not ok.

The lack of diversity within PMJ’s management team has resulted in not only a failure to participate in this historical movement, but also incidents of discrimination, harassment, and exploitation. I hope that Scott and his team learn from this and make solid efforts to improve their outlook, treatment, and inclusion of the Black community and repair their relationship with its Black members, all of whom have contributed to PMJ’s success. #blackatpmj
