You are paying for mitigation of risk. That Ob/Gyn that you sue because of some bullshit reason 18 years later (yes you can sue until the child is 18), even if it doesn't go to trial results in significant court costs, opportunity cost of the provider, and so on. All the equipment, supplies, and personnel has to be paid. Hospitals have to get paid. And finally, you are paying for everybody else who skips out on their bill or is too poor to pay. Everyone wants their bills paid until it comes time to pay someone else's, then it's not so fun anymore. Well that's what people want, so suck it up and enjoy paying for the illegals and deadbeats.
