what amazes me is why arent we hedging our bets? why arent we as civilians trying to bolster security? we are allowed to have a militia in an organized fashion but people are worried about operating "illegal paramilitary operations in contrary to the American government" or whatever that law stipulates. if im going to pay taxes it should be to retired soldiers who may choose to live in a secure compound that protects whistle blowers and other high value individuals.

Fact is, the United States hasn't had a war on its soil since the Civil War. Every other war fought since then has had nothing to do with us or our interests.

I agree, civilians should take a greater role in protecting our country; though against what? Nobody can challenge us; only the "laws of war" hold us back. If we wanted to, we could conquer the globe within a year.
