I think I was a teenager, back in the 1980s, when for no particular reason I picked up a novel called "Gravity's Rainbow" by Thomas Pynchon. Didn't know anything about the book or the author. As I recall it was prominently displayed in the book store I used to visit like a popular best seller.
It's pretty much an incomprehensible book. I struggled with it for awhile, and then I got to the part where the author describes in vivid detail a British Army officer engaging in coprophagia. In this scene, the Colonel Shiteater gets his snack fresh and steaming right from the source when a fraulein takes a dump in his mouth.
That story really traumatized me. I'm 50 now, and I can still remember this nasty scene from this ridiculous book.
